Launching July 22, 2024: Get Important Updates from the City of Lexington Sent to Your Phone

The City of Lexington is excited to launch TextMyGov, a new, smart text messaging service! Residents can receive important notifications such as weather alerts, boil orders and street closures. Residents can also text the City to find information and report issues.

Lexington will officially launch the new text messaging system to the public on July 22nd. Residents may receive a text message from 91896 from the City of Lexington initiating the service. You can choose to opt out at any time by texting STOP. If you don’t receive the initial message, you can opt-in by texting the keywords below to 91896. After sending the initial keyword, you will be asked to reply “YES” to confirm opt-in. Residents may receive notifications for City notifications and events.

For specific text alerts, text one of the following keywords to the number 91896:

• City notifications: text LEXINFO to 91896

• Event updates: text LEXEVENTS to 91896

Also starting soon, residents will be able to receive on-demand information 24/7 by texting keywords to the City’s TextMyGov number: 309-490-9004. You’ll be able to get quick information about City Council agendas, garbage schedule, utility account, permit applications, and to report issues.

Access Information

You can send a text message to the City using simple keywords to find information such as: APPLICATIONS, SANITATION, ORDINANCES, PERMIT, TRASH SERVICES, or ZONING.

Report Issues

Easily report an issue to the City by texting REPORT or an issue-specific keyword such as: CODE VIOLATION, TREE DOWN, DAMAGED CONTAINER, TALL GRASS, or PLAYGROUND.
